Jewelry Care

Our gold-filled pieces are hand-smithed at our home studio in Macon, Georgia from gold filled materials sourced in the United States. Our gold plated pieces are french gold-plated made through a process called Ionic Plating using 3 microns of real gold with a base metal of brass. Ion plating is very durable compared to traditional plating - 5 to 8 times more durable! This makes ion-plated jewelry a rugged option for daily wear and is made to last in your collection for years if worn with care. All of our pieces must adhere to a high-standard of quality control. If you take proper care of your new pieces, you will be able to wear them daily for many years to come.

We note the metal quality of each piece of all product pages. Please refer to the product you purchased to ensure the quality of your jewelry.

Gold Filled / Sterling Jewelry Care:

Your gold-filled pieces can be cleaned with a gold-jewelry polish cloth to remove debris / restore shine. You can also use a soft toothbrush and blue dawn dish soap for some extra TLC. Be sure to pat dry. Please note that sterling silver is more prone to oxidation and may require more frequent cleaning and polishing compare to gold-filled.

Gold Plated Jewelry Care:

Simply clean your gold plated jewelry with a soft cloth only and store in your Rune and Light box or pouch when not in use.

Keep In Mind:

Lucky for you, our jewelry is relatively low maintenance. There are a few key things to keep an eye out for, and if you do that you will be good to wear your Rune and Light pieces as everyday staples:

Water Resistance

Our pieces are water resistant, not waterproof. While you may opt to wear them into the shower, and no one is immune from getting caught in the occasional rainstorm, we highly recommend that you take your jewelry off before showering, and strongly urge you to remove before going in the ocean, or taking a dip in the pool. Keep in mind that excessive contact with water may shorten the life-span of your jewelry. If your jewelry comes in contact with water, we recommend patting dry. Polish with a soft cloth to restore shine.

Perfumes, Lotions, Oils, etc.

Please try to limit any contact with perfumes, lotions, oils, makeup, sunscreen, etc. as these substances are abrasive to metals.. It’s a good idea to let your jewelry be the last thing you put on before you walk out the door, after your lotion and perfume has been absorbed by your skin.
